Johari is native to Chicago and a small farming community in Michigan. As a graduate of Michigan State University and a research microbiologist for major pharmaceutical companies, she has lived her life in pursuit of the natural connections of man, food and land. While building the farm, Johari worked as a professional model gracing runways, print and screen. Over the past 15 years, Johari, her husband and two children have run and operated Iyabo Farms as a place of growth for all who want to connect. The family founded the Garvey Fest (a cultural and farm festival), the Iyabo Farm’s Earth Day Celebrations and has hosted Universities, students, interns, and weekend farmers mentoring in organic farming and sustainable living.
